The people’s car – Tata Nano goes green.

Good news for the price-conscious Indians. Ratan Tata, the chairman of both Tata Group and Tata Motors said about the plans to produce a hybrid version of Tata Nano. He did not provide any further details on the possible launch of cheap hybrid versions. He predicted that the so called price revolution would also continue to spread across the world.

The 2010 European Car of the Year award goes to… Volkswagen Polo!

The Germans did it again! Volkswagen Polo bagged European Car of the Year outclassing Citroen C3 Picasso, Mercedes Benz E-Klasse, Opel Astra, Peugeot 3008, Skoda Yeti and Toyota iQ. The official announcement of this will happen soon. Polo will be available in India in early 2010 and it will be the first VW hatch to hit Indian roads. It will be their hot selling model if priced aggressively.

Gone in sixty seconds – Nicholas Cage bought nine Rolls-Royce Phantoms, three mansions and an island!

Film star NICHOLAS CAGE bought nine (yes Nine!) Rolls-Royce cars and three mansions in a £25million spending spree, a lawsuit claims. Oscar-winner Cage, 45, splashed out more than £1.2million on the motors and £20million on the pads. Toyota speaks about launching Prius in India soon.

Toyota seems happy about the Indian government’s plans to reduce the import duty on green cars. They are planning to launch its hybrid car Prius in India soon. Mitsuhiro Umeyama, General Manager of global research and development division of Toyota said around 5% of Toyota’s vehicles sold globally are hybrids and the company would be satisfied if it matched that percentage in India.
