India’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki is all set to bring on the road a revamped and cheaper Alto. Maruti feels that now is the best time to launch a stripped down version of its largest selling car. It sells close to 20,000 Altos every month making it India’s best selling car model.
Maruti hopes the leaner Alto will not only help it counter competition from new cars in the markets but also replace the iconic Maruti 800 which is being phased out. The new Alto will have a 1 litre K-Series Engine and will be priced up to Rs 2 lakh.

Luxury car-maker Mercedes-Benz India, today unveiled its new Mercedes E-Class Coupe.
“We have launched our new E-Class Coupe, the most aerodynamic series production car in the world. It comes with an aggressive price tag of Rs 54.83-lakh onwards ex-showroom in Mumbai,” Mercedes-Benz India’s Managing Director and CEO, Wilfried Aulbur, told reporters here.
E-Class Coupe has state-of-the-art technology and high safety standards, which meets the needs of young individuals looking for a car that is athletic, striking and passionate, Aulbur said.
German luxury car maker Audi on Wednesday launched a limited edition of the diesel version of its Q7 sports utility vehicle at a specially discounted price of Rs 58.68 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai), which is Rs 7.45 lakh less than the existing car.
The limited edition of the Audi Q7 4.2 TDI has been launched to commemorate completion of three years of Audi’s operations in India, the company said in a statement.

German luxury car maker Mercedes Benz announced that their entry level car A-Class will adorn the Indian roads soon.
Mercedes has been having its doubts since long time about introducing this car in India but as its sales show robust growth it is now more optimistic about the model holding ground amongst Indian car buyers. “In 2010, our segment grew 80%, but Mercedes Benz has grown 157% and this is without the GL launch,” said Mercedes Benz India managing director and CEO, Wilfried Aulbur.
