2011 Hyundai Sonata earns Top Safety Pick rating.

The Korean carmaker Hyundai was once considered ‘cheap’ rather than an inexpensive option. But after years of constant improvements Hyundai is one of the safest choices for an entry level car. Hyundai’s 2011 Sonata is no different.

Ford India to launch Figo in March.

Ford India announced that they will be launching their compact car Figo in March and commercial production of Figo started on 5th of February at their Maraimalai Nagar plant.
About three-fourths of cars sold in India are in the compact category and Maruti Suzuki is the undisputable leader in this sector with its hatchbacks like Alto, Swift, Ritz and the A-Star. Ford India has only about 2 percent market share and has sold 24,186 cars during April-January.

Maruti-Suzuki is phasing out the iconic Maruti 800

Come April, the iconic Maruti 800 model will not be available in several cities across the country.
With the new emission laws, which require all automakers to upgrade the engines of cars sold in the top 13 cities to Bharat Stage IV levels, coming into force from April 1, Maruti Suzuki has said that it has no intention of making the Maruti 800 compliant with the new standards. Force India unveils VJM03 for 2010 championship.

Vijay Mallya’s Force India launched their car for the 2010 Formula-1 season – VJM03. Force India made its official testing debut with more than 300 km of trouble-free run and no reliability issues on day one of their four-day testing at the Circuit de Jerez.

“It was definitely a good beginning to our testing programme. It was mainly about getting comfortable in the car and running through the systems,” Liuzzi said. “We did more than 70 laps and the car was reliable with no big issues, which is a very good starting point.”

Ford India launches commercial production of Figo.

Ford India today launched the commercial production of its compact car Figo at its Maraimalai Nagar plant here. Chief Minister M Karunanidhi inaugurated the production of Figo, the company’’s first compact car through which it aims to capture a big slice of the booming small car market.

Ford had signed an MoU with the Tamil Nadu government in September last year, under which it would invest an additional Rs 1,500 crore to expand the facility. The investments include ramping up operations to make new engines for production of Figo.

Aston Martin coming to India.

The James Bond car, Aston Martin is coming soon to scorch the Indian roads.

With the model for India yet to be decided, negotiations are on with the local dealers for the formal launch of the car, said an official spokesman.

Aston Martin was founded in 1913 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford and from 1994 until 2007 Aston Martin was part of the Ford Motor Company. On 12 March 2007, it was purchased by a joint venture company, co-owned by Investment Dar and Adeem Investment of Kuwait and English businessman John Sinders. Under the new management, developing markets have become a priority, with the company adding dealers in China, Russia and West Asia.

Second round of Tata Nano bookings starts soon

Tata Motors is considering to reschedule the second round of the Tata Nano’s bookings at an earlier date. According to media reports, the company is likely to re-open bookings for the car in the next three to six months.
